Lawyers Without Borders Cardiff
Lawyers Without Borders (LWOB) is an international charitable organisation that protects human rights and promotes the rule of law through pro bono legal work and advocacy. It is made up of lawyers from around the world who contribute their expertise to uphold justice and expand access to legal support. LWOB’s global initiatives have made a tangible difference in combating human trafficking, wildlife crime, and child labour, among other pressing human rights issues.
At Cardiff University, our LWOB Student Division upholds these values in an inclusive, thought invoking environment that welcomes all voices. We aim to:
-
Raise awareness of human rights and the rule of law in both national and international contexts.
-
Organise fundraising and awareness campaigns—including sporting events, social events, debates, newsletters, and guest speaker sessions.
-
Offer students the opportunity to contribute directly to LWOB’s international projects, such as pro bono research, policy analysis, and media initiatives.
Through these efforts, we cultivate a community of students passionate about law, justice, and ethical leadership, empowering the next generation of advocates to make a meaningful global impact.
Justicia: The Academic Journal of Lawyers Without Borders Cardiff
Justicia is the official academic journal of the Cardiff University Lawyers Without Borders Society (LWOB).
Our mission is to provide a platform for critical, interdisciplinary discourse at the intersection of law, politics, ethics, and global justice.
We aim to:
-
Encourage rigorous analysis of contemporary legal and social issues.
-
Promote integrity, impartiality, and intellectual independence.
-
Bridge the gap between legal doctrine and real-world global challenges through insightful and accessible writing.
-
Foster dialogue on justice, human rights, environmental responsibility, and the rule of law across all disciplines.
Contributors come from diverse academic backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to truth, ethics, and justice. Every article published in Justicia seeks not only to analyse but to illuminate the impact of law on society and the pursuit of justice worldwide. With each article, we aim to add to and alter the discourse around its subject.
